Welcome

Our Church of England benefice forms part of the Selby Deanery in the Diocese of York.

We hope this website, through its various links will give you an insight into life in our community, its history, acts of worship and social events.

Our two churches form a United Benefice in the parishes of Monk Fryston, South Milford, Hillam and Burton Salmon along with the hamlets of Lumby, Newthorpe and Poole.

The two churches are located approx. 2 miles apart. All the villages are in the county of North Yorkshire, England.

CONFIRMATION

This is the means through which adults take up membership of the Church and accept responsibility for their own baptism promises (normally made for them as a baby/child many years before). It is the formal releasing of Godparents and taking from them the responsibility for our own Christian lives before God. If you would like to look into this more closely please give John a call on 01977 680788. There will be a confirmation service conducted by the Bishop in November of this year.

SPECIAL SERVICES

Views from the pews!

I don't know how many people in the parish of St Wilfrid's realise that on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month we have an 8am communion service in the church.
This is a quiet service. Time to sit and maybe reflect about what has happened in the past week and prepare for the coming week: no crowds, no hassle, no rush. Just 30 minutes with your prayers and thoughts. Why not join us.
A regular 8 o'clocker

“Since moving into Monk Fryston with my husband and two small children recently, I have been surprised how welcome and friendly the community, and particularly the church is. People have gone out of their way to help the family settle in. The children have always felt welcome at the St Wilfrid’s eleven O’clock service, with plenty to entertain them during the worship. I am delighted to be part of such a warm and caring community.”
