Prayer Group

prayergroup

Some of the group members after a meeting.

The group evolved after the Lent Discussion Group, which met in 2002.  One of the sessions held at that time covered the themes of stilling, visualisation and an introduction to silent  prayer.  Members of the group found it very beneficial and, as a result, decided to meet every Monday evening from 8 o’?clock to 9 30 p.m. during term time at five regular venues in both parishes. There are approximately 17 members in the group with an average attendance of 13.

The evening usually starts with a talk and an appropriate Bible reading on a particular theme organised by one of the seven group leaders.  Previous topics have ranged from faith to St. David.  This is then followed by a quiet time of relaxation and silent prayer.  A short service of Compline is introduced at this point with intercessions and open prayer followed by tea/coffee, biscuits and a good chat.

We also have an Annual Dinner at a local venue followed by the service of Compline.

The group offers a warm welcome to new members, both male and female.
