War Memorial at St Mary’s

A memorial to villagers who lost their lives during WW2 is installed in the wall close to the entrance to the Playing Fields in High Street.

There is also a memorial to Captain Frank Parker at the entrance to the village near the Royal British Legion club.

The new Roll of Honour for Monk Fryston, Hillam and Burton Salmon will be dedicated at the 11.00am service at St Wilfrid’s on Sunday 11th April 2010.   This will coincide with the Monk Fryston Time Team “Monk Fryston Revealed” weekend taking place in church.

The Roll of Honour is an accurate record of all those from the three parishes who lost their lives during the two World Wars following extensive research by Hillam Historians.
